Play time

I am far, far removed from my little work-space in the tropics and inspiration has been hard to come by.

I got sent these precious paua shells from New Zealand and just looking at them got my creative juices flowing again, so I made bracelets out of them.
In the Maori language paua is the name given to the abalone species. The paua is only found in the coastal waters of New Zealand. No two paua shells are the same. It is believed that all abalone (including the paua) strengthens the body as well as the heart. The shell represents the beauty of life and brings intuition, sensitivity and harmony to relationships. According to the Maori's the shell brings good luck, prosperity and peace to the wearer.
I believe that too!

I have had long hair for as long as I can remember.

I feel the time has come for a change and I am eagerly searching the internet for good haircuts and my eyes fell on this one below.

The main question is do I dare to take the chop?

Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park

The Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park is located near Zhangye in China's northwestern Gansu province. It is knows for it's colourful rock formations which are smooth, sharp and several hundreds meter tall. They are the result of deposits of sandstone and other minerals that occurred over 24 million years!

Can you imagine having a wander through this colourful landscape?

Take a good look

Simon Hennessey is a Birmingham, UK artist who paints realistic images.
Yup, that is right, these are paintings!
I've tried to track the artist down but his homepage is down so these images are all off interest.
Pretty amazing paintings though eh?

A sauna with a view

Uh-oh, it is getting colder, -again.
How 'bout a sauna with a view?

This stunning sauna was designed by a Canadian architectural firm called Partisans.
You should check out their web-site for more interesting designs.

Probably the prettiest sauna I ever laid eyes upon.

Tested and impressed

1. La Mer -the cleansing lotion:
When I am in our second home in the tropics I hardly ever use make up. No point really, by the end of the day it would have all melted away. However, I do surf a lot, swim, do all sorts of outdoors activities and use a lot of zinc and sunblocks. Last year on our way to Indonesia I shopped this beauty of a cleanser in the airport in Hong Kong. It has lasted me nearly a year. Great for removing anything that clog up your pores and back here in London where I can actually wear make up, it is doing a wonderful job. The cleanser seem to actually give my skin moisture and lock it in instead of stripping all the moisture off my face, like so many other cleansing products I have used.
I know one thing for sure: When this beauty does eventually run out I will be buying a new one. Expensive? Yes but when you think of the mileage you get out of it, the result you get with it,  it is worth every penny.

2. Chanel -Les Beiges
Coming from the tropics and spending winter here in London just really takes it toll on my skin. It goes dry, pale, I have all sorts of uneven skin colour due to years of being in the sun. The Chanel Les Beiges is a very, very good moisturiser with a bit of colour. I am it love with it. It makes my skin glow, my colour is even and even though I wake up looking like a ghost after I put this beauty on my skin illuminates health. Added confidence and feel good in a tube.

3. By Terry -Terrybly growth booster mascara
So, I think I must have tried almost every mascara under the sun.
I had the YSL mascara faux sils and Dior's Diorshow mascara as semi favourites before I came across By Terry's Terrybly mascara. It stays on. Doesn't flake, doesn't make me into a panda by the end of the day and with my LaMer cleanser it comes off so easily. The wand is great, one coat will give you good volume and great black lashes, two coats will make your eyelashes thick and long, I have people come up to me and ask where I have my eyelash extensions done. I say By Terry. I have been using this one for the last three years. I think I finally found the mascara that is right for me.

4. A. Vogel - Echinaforce
Now, this really really works.
I have been using a few drops every day for a year and where I would normally be sick in bed with the flu this past year I have only come close once, that was in Norway over Christmas where I stupidly forgot this little bottle.
My husband, who is hardly ever sick got the flu so bad before Christmas and I was thinking it is only a matter of hours before I get it too, as normally I get anything that goes. Anything but with the extra help of the Echinaforce I've stayed clear. Love it.

It should be noted no one paid me to give any of the above reviews.
These products are all tested and tried by me and these are products that I would warmly recommend anyone wanting to try something new.

Sheila Wolk

For years I have been admiring the "fantasy art" of an artist called Sheila Wolk.
So much so that today I thought I would share some of my favourite art pieces of hers.
If you like what you see and want to know more about this gifted lady, click here for an in-depht interview with her.

Sheila Wolk granted permission for the above four images to appear in my

Weird looking fruit that tastes so good

Such a funny looking fruit, with a "hairy" outer. However, once you crack the shell what's inside is utterly divine. It is quite sweet and will satisfy any sugar craving.

This is actually my favourite fruit of all time.
I did not discover this beauty until I first came to Bali in 1995.
It tastes like a mixture between blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, orange, it is like a party for your taste buds. Whenever I am back in Bali I always make sure to stock up on these little wonders.

This is the one fruit we get on my secret sport X in Indonesia instead of lime's. It is like a kafir lime. Sour but packs a lot of taste. Great to use in curries and cakes.

Very sexy Victoria Secret 2015

Well, hello 10th January, May is only 4 months away and with a bit of luck it will bring enough warm weather for us to get into a bikini. For me my main New Years resolution was to eat cleaner this year, which I so far have managed to do. (With cleaner I mean organic vegetables, salads, fruits etc. just making sure that anything I put into my body hasn't been processed or injected full of basically crap).

I came across Victoria Secret's 2015 swim range today and I want a stomach like that!

and the bikini's looks pretty lush as well.
It has given me enough inspiration to hit the gym! Have a lovely weekend!

Instant lust object

So inside me lives a little geek who loves anything to do with music, head phones, speakers, anything.
So imagine my joy when I stumbled upon this sassy number by Monitillo Marmi.

Carved from a single piece of Italian marble, this speaker amplifies the sound of your phone without the use of any electrical parts. Gotta love it.

Happy shopping!

It inspired me to take my camera out and start taking more pictures myself,
although none of the pictures in this post is mine, ( I wish I could take stunning pictures like this) , they are all borrowed from here.

Nature just never cease to amaze me!

My relationship with some of my closest friends have lasted me almost my whole life.
I do believe friendship is one of the most important things in life.
Looks like I am not alone:
This little macaque monkey strayed from it's mother and was taken care of by the staff of a Chinese animal protection centre, where he soon became best buddies with a white dove, who was also rescued.
For two months they ate together, slept together, played together before they got released back into the wild. Picture and story taken from here

In Norway an unusual friendship developed between the dog Tinnie and the Fox Snusen.
They will play together as often as they can in a forest close to Ski, in  Akershus.

Bubbles the African Elephant and Bella the black Labrador met in a safari reserve in the US after Bubbles was rescued from Ivory poachers in Africa. These two are great together.

So, look after your friends, they all bring blessings and lessons and enrich your life, even with friendships gone wrong somewhere later along the line you will realise you learnt an important lesson.

Baby, it's grey outside....

So the winter months here in London are pretty grey....but that doesn't mean they are boring.
I absolutely love candles, smelly candles, tea lights, battery driven candles, candles in any which size, shape or form.
So while outside goes dark around four in the afternoon the inside goes warm and glowing.

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” Plato
