Guerlain Make Up



This has got to be one of the lushest eye make up cases I have ever owned.

The colors are great, they last and the case looks so beautiful it's tempting to just leave it out as a work of art and it comes with a very handy "how to" pamphlet.

Mascara


Being a woman I am totally fascinated by everything make-up, especially mascara's. The last month I've been using Rimmel's Lash Accelerator Mascara which promises to make your lashes appear up to 80% longer and if you use it over time it promotes natural lash growth for up to 117% longer looking lashes after 30 days.

Did it work? Nope. Time to bin this one and go in search of a new one.

Knekkebrod


Being back home in Norway I've noticed a big trend for home made baking of "knekkebrod", which is like a hard, flat bread you'd eat in the mornings, or at supper or basically whenever you feel like a snack. Solvi made them, Vibeke made them and even mum made them so I thought I'd share the recipe with who ever is out there.

3 1/2 dl oats
3 1/2 dl whole wheat flour
1 dl bran
1dl lin seeds, (couldn't find a proper translation for this word. Basically it is little brown seeds).
1 1/2 dl sesame seeds
2 dl sunflower seeds
1 dl chopped walnuts, (or any other nuts)
a pinch of salt
7 dl water with 1 spoon honey

Use two baking trays. Bake at 170, after 10 mins cut into squares and continue baking for 30 mins.

"Kvelds" at Vibeke's

Vibeke moved into this awesome house last year.
She has done a tremendous job fixing it up and her upstairs living room/dining room/kitchen and a spare room now looks absolutely fantastic.
It has a gorgeous view which unfortunately I could not get a photo of seeing that it is darker than dark outside, (we had 10!! mins of sun this day, -really!), so will just have to come over in the summer and take some photo's to share then...
I love coming here and this evening she had a few of the girls over for "kvelds" which is like a supper. Vibeke is a fantastic cook. I believe everything I've had at her place just taste sensational.
Her kitchen shelves are full of cookery books from all over the world.
She had made us "knekkebrod" from scratch, which is yummy!


Walking on ice


After doing a tremendous amount of walking in the Alps I figured I might as well continue. (Plus the chocolates in mum's cupboard basically started shouting my name so it was a question of choosing between chocolates and nature).
It has been mild back home and then really cold, something I should have thought about before venturing out, -didn't. Rain + cold = ice.
WTF was I thinking.
Should have brought my ice skates instead.

Solvi's Sanctuary


My girl Solvi lives in Oslo which is the capital of Norway.
You'd imagine such a place to be crowded, heaps of traffic, chaos etc. etc. which it is....outside.
Inside her flat however you feel like you've walked into another part of the world.
Solvi and her partner have collected artifacts from all over the globe
and she has tastefully put them all together.
She has an immaculate eye for detail.
Her use of candles makes the flat warm and welcoming, even if it happens to be -10 outside her window.

The whole flat is filled with such a calming energy and you feel totally at peace here.

The last breakfast


My days of living like a queen have finally come to an end.
It has been great starting my days like this: breakfast all ready and waiting for me, no dishes, no stress, -heaven.
Leaving this little paradise on earth to go visit another one tomorrow.

Trex, -the adjuster

The last couple of days we've had brilliant sunny days with not a cloud in the sky.
When I woke up this morning the view from our bedroom window in the hotel Tannenheim looked like this:
So I knew it was going to be an absolute stunner of a day.
The snow is slowly melting away, giving us real hard packed icy conditions in the morning, that slowly turns in to slush come mid morning so I've parked myself in the restaurant.
One of the local dishes is called a Kaisershmarren , (I know I wrote that one wrong,-sorry) and it is like a HUGE pancake, with redcurrant jam. It is absolutely yummy.
Trex has been busy adjusting.
Anything that needs or maybe doesn't even need adjusting will be adjusted. Hence his nickname: "The Adjuster".
He'll wake up in the morning and be late for breakfast because he had to adjust some board or another. Today he spent at least three hours adjusting his skins on his split snowboard, using a spanner from the liftie up on the top chairlift.
The locals know him so well now they'll shake his head and calls him a "spinner" which is a pleasant way of saying he is mad...

1hour, 15 mins


I've been walking up from Trafoi village, (1,750m), to the Furkelhutte, (2,550m) a couple of times now and are happy to say I've cut down my time from 2 hours to today's best 1 hour and 15 minutes.
It should be noted that the local heroes do it in 35-40 minutes. The buggers must run up the hill so I have a long, long way to go. The record is 28 mins from the bottom of the ticket booth to the top of the T-bar lift (!)
It is quite a breathtaking walk, literally and physically and on the walk up I always manage to spot some deer, birds, etc.
John's always up first thing in the morning and is having a blast on his board.

The reward up the top is something called Apfelguhmix, basically warm apple drink and it tastes awesome.

After a little rest in the hut I'm normally on my board trying to get a few hours in, before my knees cave in.

The new chairlift in Trafoi


They've put up a new chairlift in Trafoi.


It takes us all the way to the top, it goes from 2050 to 2400 meters.
Great to finally have access to all the powder runs that we've missed out on the last couple of years.


It takes you to a pisted black run, an easier blue/red run track and endless powder runs.
The view from the top is so beautiful it hurts.

Two hot chocolates


I'm totally addicted to hot chocolate when I'm here in Trafoi.
It heats up both hands and the "inside" of my body on the cold days.
We treated ourselves to some hot chocolate in Hotel "Bella Vista".
They have a lovely lounge area which is warm and inviting.
And the fireplace just adds to the charm.
